From Los Angeles
 Take I-5 north to Hwy 14 north to US 395 north. You'll pass Death Valley, Mount Whitney and the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest. Exit Hwy 203 just past Mammoth Yosemite Airport.

From Orange County
Take the 91 east to the 15 north.  Once you crest the Cajon Pass in Hesperia keep a sharp eye out for 395 north and then follow to the Mammoth Lakes cut off 203.  Drive time 5½ to 6 hours.

From San Francisco
Arrive via Yosemite National Park in the summer. In winter take Interstate 80 to Hwy 50 to Kingsbury Grade cutoff to US 395 south to Hwy 203 (320 miles).

From Nevada/Lake Tahoe
Drive through miles of scenic backcountry, pass by Bodie State Historical Park and Mono Lake. 
Take US 395 south to Hwy 203 (165 miles).

From Las Vegas
Tour the desert’s interesting rock formations and old gold mining towns. One of several options is US 95 north to Hwy 266 west; turn slight left to Hwy 168 to US 395 north to Hwy 203 (310 miles).
